"Spanish is my first language and was utilized all the time in my home. I learned how to speak, read, and write it since I was about 4. I realized however, that there is more to just knowing a language. It contains culture, where in my case I only knew the culture my parents taught me which I am proud of. At Simpson College, I have had the opportunity of learning about so many different cultures that utilize the beautiful language of Spanish. There is so much more to a language than people think."

"For me, I started studying German because I was interested in a language but I did not have the opportunity in high school for diversity in a second language. During my time at Simpson College, German was highly beneficial and quite enlightening to my everyday classes and in my music major. When I found out that my voice teacher was leading the German study abroad group, I instantly added my name to the group and I became a German major. Studying German was one of the best experiences that I encountered while at Simpson."

"If there’s a 'secret' or 'hack' to learning a new language, it’s this: hours and hours of awkward and strenuous conversation with people better than you in that language." YES! We agree! At Simpson College, our language tables with native speakers offer a way to get these kinds of results.

I’ve seen the supposed “hacks” for language learning, and none of them worked for me. It took hours of study combined with stumbling through many, many conversations.
