She recently defended her doctorate in American Studies from the University of Kansas. She holds a B.S. in Journalism with minors in Dance and Creative Writing also from the University of Kansas. Her research examines Chicana/Latina Gothic literature, with particular attention to disability studies, feminist theory, race, and coloniality. Her work received the 2024 Women of Color Caucus x Frontiers Student Essay Award at the National Women’s Studies Association Conference. Her manuscript proposal, “En Ser o No Ser Extraterrestre,” is currently under review for a forthcoming American Studies journal issue.
