Second day of recruitment is here! Thank you to everyone who came yesterday, we enjoyed meeting you, and can’t wait to see you again today! From 2:00pm-5:00pm the men of Phi Delta Theta will be hosting a Hog Roast BBQ at the house. Stop by, grab some food, and enjoy the weather- See you all soon!

We had a great dinner and executive retreat with our Leadership Consultant, Brandon. We discussed numerous topics and developed a plan of action for the fall 2018 semester! Transition of power and chapter accountability were the main areas of focus. Thank you Brandon, and a special thank you to Iowa Chop House for hosting us!

Congratulations to brothers, Brian Shallcross, Jacob Tinker, and Kavrin McGuire! They received a combined $11,000 through the W.H Sterg O’Dell Scholarships. Brother Sterg O’Dell, Iowa ’40, wrote to the Phi Delta Theta Foundation in 1972 wondering what two or three scholarships a year for a trail period of five years would do for Iowa Beta Chapter. The O’Dell Scholarships for members of Iowa Beta, were established the following year, and continue to support our members today, in 2018. Thank you Brother O’Dell, and congratulations boys!

Brother Austin Koch, traveled to Oxford, Ohio in August to participate in the Kleberg Emerging Leaders Institute. Behind everything that makes us proud of Phi Delta Theta is strong leadership – leadership based upon our Cardinal Principles of friendship, sound learning, and rectitude. The Fraternity and the Phi Delta Theta Foundation are committed to developing strong leadership skills from the beginning of one’s membership. The Kleberg Emerging Leaders Institute (Kleberg) was created to meet that goal. We can’t wait to hear about Austin’s experience!

And that’s a wrap! The 2018 General Convention is over, Phi’s from across the U.S. and Canada traveled to San Antonio, Texas for an excellent weekend. Our President took part in legislative meetings to vote on changes in the fraternity’s constitution, along with electing the new General Council, and of course to enjoy a fun weekend on the San Antonio river walk. It was an honor to represent Iowa Beta and partake in important discussions on how we can work together to better the Greek community. We look forward to the 2020 Convention in Pennsylvania!

Shout out to Iowa Gamma Chapter (Iowa State) and Nebraska Alpha (Big Red) for the extra hospitality. See you both at Kinnick this fall, we apologize in advanced 🏈- Go Hawks.

Summer is here, and that means it’s time for summer projects... first up is a new front door. Since our front door was original when the house was first built, they had to take the old one off so they could trace it and make our new one! Don’t worry, this contraption is only temporary... ATTENTION: Due to unfortunate circumstances we will be canceling our Philanthropy today. Originally, our Philanthropy was supposed to be held on April 21st but after conflicts with the Volleyball courts we were forced to move it back to April 28th (Today). However, we will be canceling today’s Beach volleyball tournament for numerous reasons. We deeply apologize for those who signed up for our event, but with only a very few amount of teams signed up, the tournament just simply couldn’t go on.

We will still be raising money for the LiveLikeLou foundation as this semester comes to a close! Thank you to everyone who donated to our page and supported this great cause, the fundraiser link will be open for the next week for any continued donations! The men of Phi Delta Theta want to thank everyone who has donated as well as contributed to make this day what it was supposed to be. Be looking for our Fall event at the beginning of the Fall 2018 semester next year!
