The University of Iowa IEEE Student Branch is an organization meant to enhance the learning experience of electrical engineering students by presenting them with real world engineering problems and solutions. It is also meant to prepare students professionally, as well as present them with opportunities to improve themselves in their respective field of study.

Hi everyone!
We have a very exciting opportunity coming up that the executive board would like to extend to you all. Zakir Durumeric—an assistant professor of Computer Science at Stanford University—will be visiting the University of Iowa to talk at the ECE professional seminar abut Cyber Security and has agreed to meet with the members of our IEEE chapter beforehand.

Professor Durumeric is an assistant professor of Computer Science at Stanford University where he performs research on empirical systems and network security. He is well known as a co-founder of Censys-a technology that is able to probe every computer connected to the internet in just 5 minutes, and also holds a spot as a member of MIT Technology Review’s 35 under 35 list.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, October 18th from 3:30-4:30pm in room 4505 SC. This is a fantastic opportunity that won’t come around often, so don’t miss out!

Engineering students,

IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) will be holding our first student meeting of the semester on Thursday, September 6th at 6:30pm in room 3505 SC. Students of all engineering majors are welcome and encouraged to attend!

We will talk about general information, some things coming this semester, and go over some exciting projects that everyone can be a part of!

There will also be FREE PIZZA from The Airliner.

First IEEE meeting was a success! Over 30 students attended the first meeting and learned what IEEE means and the purpose of it. We also talked about the great opportunities coming this semester, including a great and meet with Google! Iowa City favorite, Mesa Pizza, topped the meeting off!
