Saxophone legend Sonny Rollins passed away this week at age 95. Once called “the last remaining titan of jazz,” Rollins brought his iconic sound to Hancher in 1993.

A Hancher press release from that year captured it best stating “For many, Sonny Rollins is more than just a musician or performer. For them, a Rollins concert is a revelatory, almost religious experience.”

He will be missed and his legacy will live on in the world of jazz. 🎷

Today Punch Brothers begin their most extensive tour since 2019 with a stop in Iowa City on September 16!

Known for pushing the boundaries of acoustic music, the band has garnered critical acclaim, including a Grammy for Best Folk Album for All Ashore (2018) and The Washington Post applauded them for taking “bluegrass to its next evolutionary stage, drawing equal inspiration from the brain and the heart."

Today, Mexodus leads the nominations for the 41st Annual Lucille Lortel Awards, honoring Off and Off-Off Broadway theatre, with nine nominations including Outstanding Musical!
