I’m so excited for you guys to experience recruitment! Looking back, I honestly had no idea how much joining Pi Phi would end up shaping my college experience. I knew I wanted to meet new people and find a community, but I didn’t realize I would end up finding some of my closest friends and so many people who have made UCI feel like home. What I love most about Pi Phi is honestly all the random little moments. Getting food together after a long day, sitting around talking for way longer than we planned, getting ready together, going on spontaneous adventures, or just knowing there’s always someone I can call. Those are the things I’m going to remember most when I look back at college. And being VP of Community Relations has made me realize how many people I’ve gotten to know because I decided to put myself out there and get involved. I’ve met so many people I probably never would have met otherwise, both in Pi Phi and outside of it, and I’m really grateful for that.
If I could tell you one thing going into recruitment, it would just be to actually enjoy the conversations you’re having. You don’t need to say the right thing or try to make yourself fit somewhere. Talk about the things you care about, ask the random questions, laugh, and let people get to know you. Recruitment goes by so fast, and you never know which conversation might turn into a friendship you’ll have for the rest of college. I’m so excited to meet you all!! 💌“
