70 years ago, the US Army’s 101 Airborne Division took the town over from the German troops. The capture of the town of Carentan consolidated the US beachheads at Utah Beach and Omaha Beach in Normandy, and it also served as an intermediate staging position for the allied forces to capture the port city of Cherbourg during WWII.

We honor the more than 150,000 American, British, Canadian and other Allied D-Day veterans who risked and gave their lives to defeat Adolf Hitler's Third Reich.

The San Diego, California resident landed on D-Day with the 29th Infantry Division and said he kept fighting until he reached the Elbe River in Germany the following April. "I praise God I made it and that we've never had another World War," he said

Dear friends of Azerbaijani Student Association,

As you might know, 26 February 2014 is twenty second year of the Khojaly massacre - one of the most violent atrocities of Armenians against Azerbaijani civilians. For the commemoration of the victims and raising awareness of community on this tragedy, we need your help! We need volunteers to help with the “Justice for Khojaly” booth that we will set up on UCI ring road on Thursday, February 27 from 11:00am to 3:00 pm. Please let me know if you are available to help.

On September 28, 2013, members of Azerbaijani community in Southern California joined Azerbaijani American Council (AAC) to represent their homeland at the Irvine Global Village Festival – one of the largest multicultural events in California. AAC has participated in this annual festival since 2007.
