We welcome Megan Wojtyła, Assistant Professor of Oboe, who also will be teaching aural skills and music theory. Oboist Megan Wojtyła is a versatile performer and educator with a particular passion for contemporary music and inclusive music accessibility. Wojtyła serves as a regular guest professor at Western Michigan University and has previously taught and developed curriculum for undergraduate music theory and undergraduate music history courses at Stony Brook University. A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Wojtyła now enjoys splitting her time between Ithaca and New York City.

Lily Milkis, who graduated in 2025 with a B.M. degree in Music in Combination With an Outside Field (Management), has spent the summer at the Aspen Music Festival as the manager of the Aspen Festival Orchestra. In addition, she's been assigned to manage the ensemble for Guys and Dolls in collaboration with Theatre Aspen. Lily is shown here (on the right) with multi-reed player Emily Pecoraro, B.M. Jorge Grossmann, Professor of Composition, recently returned from his sabbatical during which he continued his research on and composition of music based on South American pre-Columbian musical instruments and the tuning systems of the Nazca civilization of ancient Peru. Elizabeth Medina-Gray, Associate Professor of Music Theory, is spending April 13 - 15 at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music as part of the Robert Samuels Visiting Scholar Program, within the Five Friends Masterclass Series. Dr. Medina-Gray will present a lecture for a general audience, "Musical Sound Effects (and Sound-Effect Music) in Video Games;" a lecture for the music theory department's colloquium series, "Aesthetics, Physicality, and Meaning through Speech-like Sounds without Language: Exploring the Synthesized Voice Sounds in Celeste;" guest teach two graduate level courses; and meet with individual graduate students. The Department of Composition and Music Studies is co-sponsoring (along with Ithaca College Hillel) a showing of the documentary film "They Played For Their Lives," about eight Holocaust survivors who used their musical talent as a survival tool, including playing in the Auschwitz women's orchestra. The film will be followed by a Q&A session with the director, Nurit Jugend. The film will be shown in Textor 101 on the Ithaca College campus on Tuesday, April 14, at 6:30 pm. We're so proud of, Sara Haefeli, Professor of Musicology, who is spending the week at Oklahoma City University's School of Music! Dr. Haefeli will be speaking about her work as lead author on the upcoming 11th edition of A History of Western Music, visiting the Orchestral Literature class to discuss 19th-century American symphonists, and joining the Composer's Forum to explore the limits of notation through Caroline Shaw's Partita for 8 Voices. She'll wrap up the week by delivering the keynote lecture at Saturday's Teaching Music History Workshop for music educators across the region. Way to represent, Dr. Haefeli!
