Cornell OutLaw OuLaw is Cornell Law School's organization for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, (LGBTQIA+) and Straight Ally students on campus.

We host speaker series on issues relevant to the LGBTQ legal community, provide a mentorship program for 1L students, organize networking opportunities with alums and LGBTQ professors on campus, and act as a voice for the LGBTQ community at Cornell Law. Today on Transgender Day of Remembrance, we remember all the trans lives lost this year, so many of whom were BIPOC trans women. We need to do better to stop the epidemic of violence against trans people, especially women of color.

Thirty-seven transgender, nonbinary, or gender-nonconforming Americans have become homicide victims this year.

Please join OutLaw tonight from 5pm to 6pm for our Regulatory Comment Writing Lab in partnership with National Lawyers Guild. We will be writing comments in opposition to HUD's proposed rule that allows discrimination against trans and gender non-conforming people in homeless shelters.

HUD published proposed anti-transgender changes to the Equal Access Rule in the Federal Register on July 23. This proposed rule change would weaken protections for transgender individuals experiencing homelessness and seeking emergency shelter, allowing shelter providers to deny admission or access....
