New LSP course just dropped!

Spoken Word, Hip-Hop Theater, and the Politics of Performance – LSP 3754 (also PMA/FGSS/AMST 3754, ENGL 3954) is being offered by Professor Karen Jaime in the Department of Performing & Media Arts. In this course, they plan to critically examine the production and performance of race, ethnicity, sexuality, and gender through literature and contemporary performance genres such as spoken word, slam poetry, and hip-hop theater. Beginning with the 1960s and the Civil Rights Movement, this course explores the ways in which poets and performers create work that engages with the politics of identity. Taught on TR 12:20 – 2:15 for 4 credits, this is a class you're definitely not going to want to miss! Check out our Linktree for more info and other awesome course offerings from the LSP coming this Fall!

That's a wrap up of the Friday's With Faculty series this semester, we’d like to give a huge thank you to Kennia Coronado for joining us!

We’re excited to share that she will be joining as an Assistant Professor this Fall, be sure to keep an eye out for the two classes she’ll be teaching!

During the session, we had the opportunity to learn about her academic journey and the passions that drive her work, including political communication, government, and Latina/o politics. Her insights offered a thoughtful perspective on the intersections of research, identity, and public discourse.

Thank you, Kennia, for closing out our Fridays on such an engaging and inspiring note!
