✨ LRC Student Assistant Spotlight ✨

Meet Bryan, one of our new student assistants.

Bryan is a sophomore in CAS. He plans to double major in Government and American Studies, concentrating in Immigration and minoring in Inequality Studies. Bryan is a native Spanish speaker and an ESL tutor for farmworkers in the Northeast Region. Outside the classroom, Bryan enjoys playing soccer, drawing, and listening to music. Stop by the LRC to say hi!

Calling all Cornell students: Put your language skills to music for a chance to win a cash prize! 💰

For this year's Lingua Mater Competition, translate "Far Above Cayuga's Waters" into your mother tongue, or a language you are learning or have learned, and submit a video of yourself performing it. Sing solo or get your friends involved!

This Thursday, October 22, the exhibition "Languages at the Brink: Threatened Languages and How We Protect Them" opens at Cornell's Kroch Library!

Join us for a reception from 4:30-6 pm in Olin Library 107, featuring Cornell professor John Whitman and his students.

The exhibition is part of "Language, Memory, Future," an Arts Unplugged series exploring our region's linguistic heritage through talks, films, performances, and more!

✨ LRC Student Assistant Spotlight ✨

Meet Clara, one of our returning student assistants.

Clara is a senior studying Molecular and Cell Biology in CALS. Originally from Pamplona, Spain, she can speak Spanish, Catalan, French, English, and Korean, which she has been studying at Cornell for four years now. Outside of academics, she enjoys attending concerts, playing the ukulele, and taking strolls in nature. You can find her at the LRC throughout the week even when she's not working at the front desk!

✨ LRC Student Assistant Spotlight ✨

Meet Durjoy, one of our new student assistants.

Durjoy is a Sophomore in CAS. He is planning on double-majoring in Linguistics & Cognitive Science with a minor in Data Science, and even potentially a Sanskrit minor! Durjoy speaks Bengali and Spanish and is currently learning Hindi and Sanskrit. Last summer, he studied abroad in New Delhi, India at Ashoka University where he learned about language policy. In his free time, Durjoy enjoys cooking Indian dishes and practicing Indian Classical Music with his friends, going on long nature-filled adventures, and having movie nights. Come visit Durjoy in G25 at 4:30pm-5:30pm on Thursdays for Bengali Conversation Hours!
