5/28/26- We were able to Celebrate our very own Brother Keeper of Peace, Lieutenant Melvin Cook(9-99-BP) on retiring from the Police Force. Friends and family gathered in concert to shower him with praises recalling fond memories and experiences. Beta Rho Chapter presented Brother Cook with an Official Chapter Commendation from the Basileus in honor of the special occasion.

Congratulations again on 28 years of service in Law Enforcement and we wish him wonderful days in the next chapter of his life.

5/28/26- Beta Rho Chapter was honored to participate in the Annual Military Appreciation Month Luncheon hosted by the Itta Bena Zeta Amicae Auxiliary of the Theta Pi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. The chapter Annually serves as a sponsor supplying food and participating on program. This year, Beta Rho Chapter also conducted the Candle-lightening Memorial for the brave and courageous men and women who have perished serving in the armed services. Brother Basileus also performed a poem for veterans and provided remarks on behalf of the Chapter.

Representing District 50, Representative Hines has served in the Mississippi House of Representatives since 2001. He is Vice Chair of the Local and Private Legislation Committee and is also a member of the Appropriations A; Appropriations E; Banking and Financial Services; Housing; Insurance; Management; Medicaid; and Public Health and Human Services Committees.

Representative Hines is an active member of 100 Black Men of the Mississippi Delta, the NAACP, and Young Men Making a Difference. He also serves on the FEMA National Advisory Council, while mentoring youth and coaching Little League in his community.
