🇯🇵 Part 5: A Stop in Hakone🗻

On the journey back toward Tokyo, students spent time in Hakone enjoying views of Lake Ashi, visits to historic sites and even a glimpse of Mt. Fuji from the Shinkansen. ✨

The group also explored the area near Hakone Shrine, visited Odawara Castle and experienced some of Japan’s incredible natural scenery during their two-night stop.

🇯🇵 Part 4: Tokyo Through the Lens of Theatre

In Tokyo, students explored Japan’s rich theatre traditions through visits to the National Noh Theatre, the Edo-Tokyo Museum, and exhibits featuring kabuki costumes, noh masks, instruments, and woodblock printmaking. 🎭

Students also gained insight into life during the Edo period while exploring replicas of traditional kabuki theatre spaces and learning more about the performance traditions that continue to influence entertainment and storytelling today.

🇯🇵 Part 3: Scenes from Kyoto

Students explored the historic beauty of Kyoto through visits to Nijo Castle, the Kyoto Imperial Palace, traditional tea houses and the famous Sanjo-bashi district. ✨

Along the way, they experienced Japanese culture through historic landmarks, local food, river views and a traditional tea ceremony while continuing their study of Japanese theatre & performance traditions. 🍵🎭
