Federal elections determine who represents Mississippi in Congress and the federal government. These elected officials make decisions that directly affect our communities, including:

● Jobs and the economy — federal investments, workforce programs, small-business support, and economic development.
● Healthcare — decisions involving Medicare, Medicaid, prescription drug costs, rural hospitals, and access to care.
● Education — funding for schools, college financial aid, student loans, and education policy.
● Infrastructure — federal funding for roads, bridges, broadband, water systems, and other community projects.
● Veterans — benefits, healthcare, and services for Mississippi veterans.
● Public safety and disaster recovery — federal resources for communities responding to hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, and other disasters.
● Voting and civil rights — federal laws and policies that can protect or change access to the ballot and equal treatment under the law.
● The federal budget — Congress determines how trillions of federal dollars are spent, including money that comes back to Mississippi.

JMAC proudly recognizes Dr. Bonita R. Coleman on her appointment as Interim Superintendent of the Canton Public School District.

With more than 30 years of experience in education, Soror Coleman has served as a superintendent, deputy superintendent, state education executive, teacher, university professor, and executive coach, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to student success and educational excellence.

During her decade as Superintendent of the Ocean Springs School District, the district maintained an A accountability rating, with every school earning an A beginning in the 2018-2019 school year, helping establish Ocean Springs as one of Mississippi's highest-performing districts.

A graduate of Tougaloo College, The University of Mississippi, and Jackson State University, Soror Coleman exemplifies visionary leadership and a dedication to advancing education across Mississippi.

JMAC proudly congratulates First Vice President Dr. LaToya Reed on completing the 2025-2026 Southern Region Delta PEARL Program (Preparing Emerging and Aspiring Regional Leaders).

Soror Reed successfully completed the 10-month leadership development program and was recognized during the 50th Southern Regional Conference of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, held August 6-9, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Delta PEARL Program prepares alumnae members for expanded leadership opportunities through focused development, organizational knowledge, and service. Dr. Reed's accomplishment reflects her commitment to growth, leadership, and excellence in service.
