Study Abroad Series
🇯🇵 Part 1: Traditional Theatre of Japan

This May, Millsaps students traveled through Tokyo and Kyoto as part of THEA 2900: Traditional Theatre of Japan, taught by Professor Sam Sparks. 🎭✨

Through performances, museums, cultural experiences, and historic sites, students explored Japanese culture, history and art while studying the traditional theatre forms of kabuki, noh and bunraku.

By experiencing these performance traditions in Japan, students gained new perspectives on storytelling, entertainment and the lasting influence of Japanese theatre on modern performance and western theatre theory.
