🌱🥕 The Student-Led Farmers Market was a beautiful success!

Hosted by Dr. Heather Denne at the JSU/Blackburn Learning Garden, this special event gave middle school students the opportunity to showcase the fruits and vegetables they personally grew and harvested through hands-on learning and teamwork. 🍉🌽🥬

Students not only learned about gardening and sustainability, but also gained valuable experience in leadership, responsibility, and entrepreneurship. It was amazing to see the community and the Jackson State University family come together to support these young scholars and their hard work.

From fresh produce to smiling faces, today was filled with learning, fellowship, and community impact. A huge thank you to everyone who came out, supported the students, and helped make this event such a meaningful experience.

The seeds planted today are growing far beyond the garden. 💚✨

💙🎓✨ An afternoon of elegance, inspiration, and purpose.

Jackson State University proudly hosted the Mary E. Peoples Scholarship Luncheon, celebrating the power of education, leadership, and the continued investment in our students’ futures.

From the beautiful atmosphere to the meaningful moments shared among students, supporters, alumni, and community leaders, the luncheon served as a reminder that scholarships do more than provide financial support — they open doors, change lives, and create opportunities for generations to come.

We are grateful to everyone who helped make this event such a success and to those who continue to pour into the dreams of our students. Your support helps ensure that the legacy of excellence at Jackson State University continues to grow. 💙🤍

A special congratulations to all student scholarship recipients. The future is bright, and we cannot wait to see all that you accomplish. 🐯✨

✨ One Night. One Decision. One Promise. ✨

On Friday, March 20, the Metro Jackson Community Prevention Coalition hosted PROM Promise 2026: Please Return on Monday—and it was nothing short of powerful.

Hundreds of JPS juniors and seniors filled the JSU Rose E. McCoy Auditorium for a life-changing experience centered around one message:
👉🏽 Your future is worth protecting.

🎤 And listen… the energy was set ALL the way right by the hypest host in the building, Kayla Thompson, who kept the crowd engaged, lit, and locked in from start to finish!

💥 Mr. Dwight Owens delivered a message that shook the room:
“No matter what we go through, I am a BEAST and I will get through it.”
A reminder that resilience is real and strength lives within them.

🏈 The return of JSU alum Shiloh Sanders brought real talk and real impact—encouraging students to stay focused, disciplined, and intentional about their choices.

🥁 And when the Sonic Boom of the South hit the floor… BABY! You already know the vibe! The entire room came alive with Tiger pride!

🎤 Then to take it all the way up—Billboard Hot 100 artist and viral TikTok sensation H3adband had the students TURNED with the music, the moves, and that energy they love!

But beyond the hype… the heart of the event was the Prom Promise Pledge, where students committed to:
✔️ Making responsible decisions
✔️ Staying alcohol- and drug-free
✔️ Protecting their future
✔️ Making it home safely

Because at the end of the day…
💯 One decision can change everything.

And we stand with our students, reminding them to choose wisely and…
👉🏽 Please Return on Monday.

💙🐅 Jackson State University continues to lead with purpose, impact, and community.

✨ Empowered Women. Inspired Leadership. Meaningful Connections. ✨

Some of the women faculty and staff from Jackson State University recently had the opportunity to attend the WHEMN (Women in Higher Education Mississippi Network) Conference hosted by The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.

The annual conference continues WHEMN’s mission to identify, develop, advance, and support women in higher education across the state of Mississippi. This year’s theme, “WHEMN 2026: Un-Mask Your Potential,” encouraged attendees to embrace their talents, leadership abilities, and the impact they bring to higher education.

Throughout the conference, participants engaged in dynamic sessions, panel discussions, and networking opportunities designed to strengthen leadership, build meaningful connections, and explore innovative ideas shaping the future of higher education.

We are especially proud that JSU Interim President Dr. Denise Gregory served as a panelist during the final day of the conference, sharing valuable insights and leadership perspectives with professionals from institutions across Mississippi.

Experiences like these continue to empower women leaders, spark collaboration, and reinforce the importance of supporting one another as we work to shape the future of higher education.

💙🐅 Jackson State University is proud to be represented among such an inspiring community of women leaders.
