“I was not planning on going through recruitment at all when I first got to school, but some of my volleyball teammates and friends encouraged me to at least just try because nothing was set in stone and I did not have to go through with anything if it wasn’t the right fit for me. So I went to open house and immediately felt so welcomed and seen. I had amazing conversations with every Phi Mu that were full of genuine connection, laughter, and authenticity. When I saw pink opening my bid card, I was overjoyed and felt so much peace and excitement about all that was to come. Ever since then, I have thanked Jesus everyday for blessing me with the opportunity to call such inspiring, supportive, and wonderful girls my sisters for life and they truly exemplify the extraordinary qualities that make a Phi Mu woman.”

Meet Finn and Emily!!
“Meeting Emily for the first time, I knew that we were going to be good friends. But, I never could’ve imagined just how close we would get after she became my little in Phi Mu! Emily is the kind of friend that I would never trade for the world. She supports me through everything, understands me, and always knows how to make me smile no matter what. And, she’s always down for a sweet treat run (at any hour) or a sleepover! I am always able to be my real, unfiltered self around her and I know that I can always count on her to be the friend I need. I don’t know what I did to deserve a best friend like Emily, but I am so so so blessed!!!”

“When I came to Millsaps, I didn’t think I’d ever find a best friend like I found when I met Finn. Finn welcomed the real me from the first day I met her. We quickly found out how similar we were during recruitment. It was even sweeter once she adopted me as her little! Our friendship is so special to me because we show up for each other even when it’s inconvenient. I have never once felt bad for being myself around her. In Phi Mu, she pushes me to be a better person as we share guiding values. Thanks to Phi Mu, not only will she definitely be my bridesmaid, I hope she is my roommate in the nursing home!!”

today Jordyn shares her Why Phi Mu!!

“I never thought of joining any sorority  until orientation week when I met a fellow phi mu. Just talking to her made me feel like I belonged in Phi Mu. I then met some other Phi Mu members who also made me feel welcomed and known. I then decided to go through recruitment because I knew that I finally found the sisters I wished I always had. Running home on bid day is my favorite memory as it takes me back to a memory like no other: filled with pink, glitter, laughter, and happy tears. Joining Phi Mu has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Not only have I gained friendships, but life long sisters I can rely on. At Phi Mu I know I am supported, loved, and can truly be myself. My sisters have taught me to be strong and confident which I will forever cherish. Phi Mu will always hold a special place in my heart as it has given me a home away from home.I will forever be thankful for Phi Mu!”

today Alex Bremond shares her Why Phi Mu!!

“Coming into my freshman year I had zero plans to go greek. My goals were clear and I had no room for anything except focusing on soccer and preparing for med school. Luckily for me, I was encouraged to go to open house to at least meet new people. Recruitment completely changed everything I thought about greek life. The girls were so welcoming and so easy to talk to, and every night I was excited to go back. Walking into phi mu I didn’t know what to expect, and I could never have predicted the amazing people I would meet and come to call my sisters. The environment was so comfortable, and I was laughing with girls I’d never met like I’d known them my whole life. I felt so at home I just knew I had to be apart of it, so I ran home and never looked back. My sisters are some of the funniest, most reliable, and supportive people I’ve ever met, and I am so thankful to be apart of a group of girls who are so welcoming and understanding. Because of their support, I have been able to pursue undergraduate research, be captain of the women’s soccer team, and study for the MCAT while remaining actively involved in sorority-life! Phi Mu has given me lifelong friendships, the most amazing support system, and a place I can be myself. I love my sisters and am so glad to call Phi Mu my home.”

“Even though Amelia and I never talked to each other during recruitment, it took us no time to click! Phi Mu brought me the best friend I didn’t know I needed. Amelia has always gone out of her way to make sure I see how much I deserve. From making sure I have flowers on a bad day to having countless hours of “couch time” to talk about our day, she makes me feel valued. I’ve never had to beg Amelia to be there for me and she always knows what to say to make me laugh. I’m so beyond grateful for Phi Mu bringing me someone who was more than a friend, but truly a sister!!”
