Why Jonah Alpha Omicron?
Why the name Jonah?
1. Jonah is considered a minor prophet in the bible and you know how we call everything the opposite of what it is in the hood! Look at our President! And like Jonah we have been called by God to reach even the enemies of God just like Jonah.
2. Jonah ran from his responsibilities and so did our president but for a different reason. He saw how leaders were failing and he knew that he was called to be a leader in the church too but he didn’t want to fail or be an embarrassment like the others
3. Like Jonah, but without the whale, the president was arrested by God and told to go and preach and teach the gospel and not to worry about what he saw others fail at for God is with him, in him and for him.
Alpha. Why Alpha?
1. Alpha is the first letter in the Greek alphabet and this chapter is the first of its kind in Florida.
2. Why a Greek organization? Greek organization’s have a deep history in the black community and in the collegiate world too. We want to reach people of all race, color and creeds.
3. More than anything we are the Alpha of the Nu Phi Upsilon Christian Fraternity Incorporated and Christian men need a safe place and we are the fist Godly, safe and Christian place in Florida they can assemble.
Why Omicron?
1. The Greek letter Omicron represents the number zero. The most powerful number of all numbers and it’s the fifteenth letter or next to last letter in the Greek alphabet.
2. Add a zero to any number and the value goes up exponentially! Add zero to one and you got ten! Add another zero and you have one hundred! The more you add the more you have!
3. Lastly, the greatest power of zero is in the Hebrew number system. Zero means creation. In Genesis, the first chapter in the bible “In the beginning God created...” or in the book of John, the disciple who Jesus loved, he said “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.” And finally, that same John wrote the last book of the bible called Revelation. This chapter of Nu Phi Upsilon Christian Fraternity Incorporated is here to reveal to men of every demographic the light of God’s Word to the world.
This is why we are called by God, our Founder and chapter president Jonah Alpha Omicron of Nu Phi Upsilon Christian Fraternity Incorporated!
