We have received a lot of questions about making up classes that were cancelled due to Hurricane Irma, and we are happy to announce that we have a plan in place.

First, we have an obligation to our accrediting body to maintain the integrity of credit hours awarded to students. We also have an obligation to students and parents to deliver the education they are paying for. We understand that no single solution will work for everyone, and that the storm had devastating impacts on both our students and instructors, as well as on their families. This semester demands flexibility and consideration of all of us.

Power has been restored to the entirety of the JU campus, and students who live on campus may return to their assigned rooms. Those who stayed with us through the storm are already moving back into their own residences.

Residential students, check your email for detailed instructions, including important safety notes about traversing campus, checking out of temporary room assignments if you stayed on campus, and instructions for when you get back to your room.

If you have any questions, please go to the Oak Hall lobby, or call the RA on duty for your area.

Jacksonville University will remain closed through Wednesday, Sept. 13 in order to allow time for campus cleanup and to accommodate students traveling safely back to Jacksonville.

At this time, we strongly encourage students to take shelter and plan to stay put until we issue word that it is safe to move around campus. Meals will be served in Oak, Williams and Botts halls Sunday and Monday. Snacks are available between meals.

We are fully prepared under the current forecast weather conditions to safely house students on campus, but we understand some students may wish to leave Jacksonville. We want to provide plenty of time for safe travel before and after the storm.
