PTK Foundation Hosting Virtual 5K for Member Scholarships

Jackson, Mississippi — Lace up your sneakers and join runners and walkers across the country as they raise money to provide leadership and professional development opportunities to in-need community college students.

WHO: Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) Foundation

WHAT: PTK Scholar Dash, a virtual 5K run/walk

WHERE: A course of your choice in your community

WHEN: September 15-30, 2020

WHY: The first-ever PTK Scholar Dash will raise money for PTK’s Golden Opportunity Scholarship, which waives the $60 international membership fee for in-need students and opens the door for academic and transfer scholarships, leadership skills, professional development, workforce training, and much more.

To all Upsilon Eta members interested in getting more involved: One way you can do this is by participating in the Regional Honors Study Topic Challenge. The topic this year is "To the Seventh Generation: Inheritance and Legacy".

THE CHALLENGE:

1) Choose one of the themes from the Honors in Action guide,https://www.ptk.org/programs/honors-in-action-details/.

2) Find five sources related to the exploration of that theme.
3) For each theme, the member will provide an APA citation, a brief synopsis of the source including a clear thesis statement and supporting ideas. This should be a minimum of between 250-300 words.

The member will provide a variety of source types such as journal articles, books, documentaries, interviews, newspaper articles, etc.
The sources can present opposing ideas.
4) Based on the sources, compose a research question.

Submit one file in a doc, docx or pdf format to the [email protected].
