What a night for Jax State and our very own Randy Owen!

The Randy Owen Center for the Performing Arts officially opened Wednesday night with a sold-out tribute concert honoring the Jax State alumnus and country music legend.

Artists from across the country music industry came together to celebrate Mr. Owen’s extraordinary career and lasting impact on the industry, performing many of Alabama’s greatest hits in front of a packed house at the ROC. Many of the evening’s guest appearances were kept secret from Owen ahead of the show, creating a night filled with emotional surprises and unforgettable moments.

Thank you to Alabama, Teddy Gentry, Drake White, Gordon Mote, Mark Wills, The Isaacs, Tommy Harden, The Oak Ridge Boys, Pam Tillis, Kelly Owen and Megan Mullins Owen, Luke Bryan, Jamey Johnson, Riley Green, Jason Aldean, and everyone who helped make this historic night possible.

This was more than a concert — it was the beginning of a new chapter for Jax State and the arts in Northeast Alabama.

Jax State celebrates the Randy Owen Center ribbon cutting!🎊

Jacksonville State University officially opened the Randy Owen Center for the Performing Arts (ROC) on Tuesday, marking a historic milestone for the university and unveiling a performance season that will bring nationally recognized artists, educational programming, and cultural events to Northeast Alabama.

If it's a show you wanted it's a CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP WIN you're gonna get! The Jax State Gamecocks are named the Conference USA Champions after defeating Liberty, 10-0 this past Sunday.🎉🐔

The Gamecocks will now make their way to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to take part in the 2026 Hattiesburg Regional to open the 2026 Division I NCAA Baseball Championship. | 👌

A portion of Church Avenue NE, between Roebuck Waters Street NE and Bennett Boulevard NE, will be closed Tuesday, May 26 to Thursday, May 28, due to an expected influx of traffic, artist buses, loading vehicles and pedestrians during celebration surrounding the opening of the Randy Owen Center for the Performing Arts.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution in the area and plan alternate routes if necessary. Intersections adjacent to this section of road will remain open.

Jacksonville State University has signed a new 3+3 partnership agreement with Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law, creating an accelerated pathway for qualified students to earn both their undergraduate and law degrees in just six years.
