BEVILL STATE NAMES DANIEL FOY AS HEAD BASKETBALL COACH

JASPER, AL – Bevill State Community College (BSCC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Daniel Foy as Interim Head Coach of the Men’s Basketball Team. Foy steps into the role following the retirement of Billy Conner, who served as Head Coach since 2023. The Bevill State Basketball program is located on the College’s Jasper Campus.

Chris Harris, BSCC Athletic Director, said, “Coach Foy has been an integral part of our basketball program and has demonstrated the dedication and knowledge it takes to lead at the collegiate level. His experience as both an assistant coach here at Bevill State and as a successful head coach at the high school level makes him well-prepared for this opportunity. We are confident he will continue to build on the foundation that has been established.”

Coach Foy is a graduate of Appalachian High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree, cm laude, in Language Arts from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and a master’s degree with Distinction honors in Physical Education.

Foy most recently served as Assistant Basketball Coach at Bevill State from 2023 to 2026, helping guide the program to a JuCo State Championship runner-up finish. Prior to joining Bevill State, he compiled an impressive head coaching record at the high school level spanning more than two decades. At Mortimer Jordan High School, he led the team to two Area Championships and two SubRegional appearances while averaging more than 20 wins per season. At Clay-Chalkville High School, his teams earned two Area Championships, two Jefferson County Championships, a Regional Tournament appearance, and two SubRegional trips, also averaging more than 20 wins per season. At Moody High School , he won two County Championships, was named St. Clair County Coach of the Year, and left as the winningest coach in school history.

Coach Foy’s family includes his wife of 32 years, Sharla; three sons, Braden, Brooks, and Brennen; a daughter-in-law, Emily; and a granddaughter, Harper.

“Daniel Foy brings a wealth of experience and a genuine passion for developing young student-athletes both on and off the court. His time as an assistant coach here at Bevill State, combined with his proven record of success as a head coach, makes him the right choice to lead our program going forward,” said Bevill State Community College President Dr. Joel Hagood. “We are grateful for Coach Conner’s contributions to Bevill State and wish him well in retirement. We look forward to watching Coach Foy build on that strong foundation. Go Bears!”

Coach Foy said of the appointment, “I am honored to have been given this opportunity at Bevill State. It is a special place that I have come to love during my tenure here. I want to thank Dr. Joel Hagood and Athletic Director Chris Harris for having the confidence in me to lead our basketball program. I am beyond excited to begin my new role as Head Men’s Basketball Coach.”
