“On May 30 Cadet Mark Mulholland graduated from Army’s Air Assault School at Fort Benning Georgia. The Army’s Air Assault School is an intense 10-day course designed to train soldiers in air assault operations, sling load rigging and inspection, and rappelling from rotary-wing aircraft. Often called the “10 toughest days in the Army,” the course includes rigorous physical training, obstacle courses, and hands-on practical exams. Graduates earn the coveted Air Assault Badge, symbolizing their ability to conduct and support air mobile and air assault missions—key capabilities for rapid deployment and maneuver in modern warfare. Congratulations Cadet Mulholland! Dare to Soar!!

On May 1st, Carson Newman’s Veterans Affairs Office recognized Carson Newman ROTC Cadets, student veterans, and current student service members in the annual Cord Ceremony. The ceremony highlighted the students’ hard work, dedication, and sacrifices they have made in their academic journey and to the country. On May 2nd, the Eagle Battalion commissioned nine cadets to include one cadet from Lincoln Memorial University. For the past four years, these cadets have endured, persevered, adapted, and have earned their 2LT bars! They are now part of 1% of the U.S. population that currently serves in the military. With that comes an incredible responsibility to their country. A responsibility they are ready for!

While in ROTC, Holloway has served as a Team leader, Assistant S4 (supply), Assistant S6, and S6 OIC. When asked how he manages his schedule he responded: “I manage my classes and ROTC easily. I personally never get stressed out, so I just take it one moment at a time. As long as you don’t think you’re rushed, you can make the time you need. It just requires a calm mind.”

Cadet Shotwell is one of our MS4s. She has served as Battalion S6 and PT OIC. When asked how she manages her schedule, she responded: “As a nursing major with a job and retired student athlete, it was not easy at all. On April 11-13th, our seniors and cadre conducted a successful staff ride to Pennsylvania to tour the Gettysburg battlefield. Throughout the experience, seniors briefed the leadership challenges both sides faced focusing on mission command principles, mission variables, and leadership competencies and attributes.

We also want to celebrate and highlight those cadets who competed in the Mountain Man Memorial Ruck March. This was a thirteen-mile ruck to honor America’s fallen!!

Great work Eagles! !
