Center for Baptist Studies at Carson-Newman University One of five Steeples of Excellence at Carson-Newman University In addition, the Center sponsors two annual lectures: The T. B.

The Center sponsors the Oxford Studies Program, through which two students each year are sent to Regents Park College at Oxford University to conduct archival research in some aspect of Baptist history. Maston Lecture and the Carlyle Marney Lecture. We are the oldest Center for Baptist Studies in the United States.

Congratulations to Dr. James Patterson on the publication of the second edition of his monograph "James Robinson Graves: Staking the Boundaries of Baptist Identity," offered through the "America's Baptist" series of the University of Tennessee Press. Dr. Patterson recently retired from Union University, where he served as university professor of Christian Thought and Tradition and associate dean of the School of Theology and Missions.
