The Carson-Newman University Music Department is pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Paul as Adjunct Professor of Composition!

Tim Paul is an accomplished composer, arranger, orchestrator, and producer whose work spans film, video games, musical theatre, worship music, marching band, and live performance. His versatility has enabled him to write for ensembles ranging from choirs and orchestras to drumlines, concert bands, and professional studio musicians.

Tim’s recent work includes serving as head percussion arranger, wind and brass arranger, and recording-session co-producer for EA Sports College Football 25, 26, and 27. For College Football 25, Tim and his team created percussion parts for more than 180 cues, including the game’s main theme, “Campus Clash,” as well as music for its commercial and trailer. He has also contributed orchestrations to the video games Star Wars: Outlaws and Delta Force and to the animated film Light of the World.

As a composer and arranger, Tim has created music for Ruth Graham and collaborated with artists and songwriters including Al Denson, Sarah Mentzer, Jennie Lee Riddle, and David Wise. His work on the musical Samson was performed at Sight & Sound Theatres in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and recognized by MD Theatre Guide and BroadwayWorld. He has also composed theme music for a nationally syndicated radio program and created original music for commercials, radio spots, video projects, and live productions.

Tim’s arrangements and orchestrations have been published by WORD Music, Brentwood-Benson, PraiseCharts, Discover Worship, and Semsen Music and are performed by churches and ensembles across the country and around the world. He has produced, conducted, and recorded with many of Nashville’s leading studio musicians, including the Nashville String Machine and Nashville Music Scoring, at studios such as Ocean Way Nashville, RCA Studio A, Warner Brothers, and The Tracking Room.

Tim also brings extensive experience writing for educational and marching ensembles. He served for four years as percussion arranger and instructor for the University of Tennessee’s Pride of the Southland Marching Band and has created custom arrangements for numerous high school programs. In 2023 and 2024, he was selected to arrange the pregame show for Nashville’s Music City Bowl. He was recently commissioned to compose an arrangement for the State Line Wind Symphony and choir featuring Grammy Award-winning tenor Aaron Blake.

Previously, Tim served as Director of Bands at Clinton High School, where his ensembles earned numerous superior ratings, became a Bands of America Regional finalist, and performed in London’s New Year’s Day Parade. He later spent two decades in full-time church ministry, composing, arranging, orchestrating, and producing music for choir, orchestra, and contemporary worship ensembles. In 2025, he began working as a full-time freelance musician.

Tim earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of Tennessee, where he studied music performance and music education. In 2024, he received the University of Tennessee Pride of the Southland Distinguished Alumni Award for excellence in music.

Tim and his wife, Heather, live in Knoxville, Tennessee, near the Great Smoky Mountains. They have one daughter, Kaitlin.

The Carson-Newman University Music Department is pleased to announce the appointment of Jason Glashauser as Adjunct Professor of Horn!

Jason Glashauser teaches general music for Clinton City Schools in Tennessee and is the Adjunct Professor of Horn at Carson-Newman University. The CMA Foundation named Jason a Music Teacher of Excellence in 2022, 2023, and 2025. He also received a Lilly Endowment Fellowship in 2016. A certified AOSA Teacher Educator, Jason teaches level 1 Orff-Schulwerk courses and has presented at music education conferences nationwide.

Previously, Jason taught horn in Indiana at Bethel College and Saint Mary’s College. He also coached for the South Bend Youth Symphony and taught general music for Concord Community Schools in Elkhart.

Jason holds Horn Performance degrees from the University of Toledo (BM) and Western Michigan University (MM), and an Educational Leadership degree from Austin Peay State University (ME). His primary horn teachers include Mary Kihslinger, Johnny Pherigo, and Lowell Greer.

Jason and his wife, violinist Zofia Glashauser, live in Powell, TN, along with their three children.

Congratulations to Carson-Newman Music Education graduate Jackson Patty on accepting a position as Elementary Music Teacher at Belle Morris Elementary School in Knoxville!

Jackson recently completed his student teaching at Cedar Bluff Elementary and Hardin Valley Academy and was recognized as the Carson-Newman Music Department’s Outstanding Graduate. We are proud of his accomplishments and excited to see the impact he will make in the lives of young musicians!

We are pleased to announce that Cody Boling will be joining the Carson-Newman University Department of Music full-time this fall as Assistant Professor of Voice! Boling previously served as Music Director for Lyric Theatre and Opera and will continue in that role alongside his new faculty appointment.
