Congrats to Dr. Anita Azeem for being named the 2026 Teaching Excellence and Leadership Award recipient at Convocation!

Dr. Azeem joined the C-N faculty three years ago, serving as an Assistant Professor of Psychology. Prior to coming to Mossy Creek, she taught at several other universities around the world including in places such as Denver, New Zealand and Pakistan. She is the author of several published works for psychology journals, as well as a recent children’s devotional entitled “Creator of All.”

We have officially kicked off our 175th anniversary celebration for the 2026-27 academic year! 🎉🦅

Since our founding in 1851, God has guided us through seasons of growth, challenge, innovation and transformation. Legend has it that five men stood under an oak tree and explored the need for a Christ-centered institution of higher education in the heart of East Tennessee. And now 17 decades later, because of God’s grace and faithfulness, we celebrate our past while also looking forward with hope to the next 175 years He has in store for us.

We welcome you to join us throughout the year as we honor and proclaim the history, mission and future of Carson-Newman University!

The annual Convocation service this morning signaled the start of the new school year and our 175th anniversary celebration!

Dr. Charles A. Fowler, C-N President, delivered a special address to our campus community, reminding us how the gospel and Christian higher education intersect at Carson-Newman. The disciplines we teach serve as “explorations of God’s creation and truth.” He emphasized that Carson-Newman must continually reaffirm the gospel as a priority in every classroom and office, giving it prominence in all things.

Building on the acronym FAITH (Formation, Association, Integration, Transformation and Holistic calling), Dr. Fowler outlined how the gospel can shape shared work of Christian educators.

“These five areas tell the gospel story and provide guardrails and direction for our shared work and shared mission in Christian higher education at Carson-Newman. They hold great potential to give deep, Christ-animating focus to our lives.” — Dr. Charles A. Fowler

We celebrated many of our student-athletes at the 14th annual Eagle Scholars ceremony! 🦅🎓

Each year, we honor hundreds of our student-athletes for all their hard work and commitment to excellence in the classroom. Recipients receive a patch designated to their scholar level to wear on their uniforms during regular season competitions and a certificate acknowledging their academic achievement.

Congrats to Women’s Golf for winning the 2026 Director’s Cup! 🏆
