The annual Convocation service this morning signaled the start of the new school year and our 175th anniversary celebration!
Dr. Charles A. Fowler, C-N President, delivered a special address to our campus community, reminding us how the gospel and Christian higher education intersect at Carson-Newman. The disciplines we teach serve as “explorations of God’s creation and truth.” He emphasized that Carson-Newman must continually reaffirm the gospel as a priority in every classroom and office, giving it prominence in all things.
Building on the acronym FAITH (Formation, Association, Integration, Transformation and Holistic calling), Dr. Fowler outlined how the gospel can shape shared work of Christian educators.
“These five areas tell the gospel story and provide guardrails and direction for our shared work and shared mission in Christian higher education at Carson-Newman. They hold great potential to give deep, Christ-animating focus to our lives.” — Dr. Charles A. Fowler
