The New Jersey City University Bachelor of Science in Fire Science is the only university-based program in the State of New Jersey and one of only a few in the United States. This degree is an increasingly valuable asset for individuals seeking advacement to officer and chief positions in the fire service. Students enjoy the opportunity to learn from active and newly retired fire officers and fire

fighters. Nationally and regionally renowned experts in the field serve as guest lectures throughout the semester. Learning is hightly interactive, emphasizing leadership development and teamwork throught student-centered learning. All classes are supplemented with distance learning to accomodate student schedules. Fire Science majors Jose, Paulo, and Jonathan gaining hands on experience with the Green Knoll Fire District in Bridgewater, NJ. Complements to Chief Jim Driscoll for the plan to welcome NJCU students to become members of their volunteer fire department! Students from larger cities would never have this opportunity since they live in communities with career fire departments.
