Major news! The ETSU Board of Trustees approved an additional reduction in tuition at ETSU Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy. Backed by a recent $3.2 million recurring state appropriation, in-state pharmacy tuition will decrease approximately 10% beginning this year. Combined with prior reductions made possible through state funding since 2023, in-state PharmD tuition will have decreased by 35.9% overall to $24,785, saving students approximately $55,556 over the course of the four-year program.

"We are deeply grateful to the members of the Tennessee General Assembly for their continued investment in Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy," said Dr. Debbie Byrd, Gatton's Dean. "This support translates directly into meaningful savings for our students, allowing them to pursue their PharmD with significantly less financial burden. Reducing the cost of pharmacy education is essential to building Tennessee's healthcare workforce, particularly in the rural and underserved communities where our graduates so often choose to serve."

Congratulations to Noah Wren, one of our incoming Class of 2030 student pharmacists, on being named a recipient of the 2026 Harold Love Outstanding Community Service Award!

Presented by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission, the Harold Love Awards recognize exceptional leadership, volunteerism, and service across Tennessee higher education.

Noah recently completed his Master of Public Health degree in biostatistics through ETSU’s accelerated bachelor’s-to-master’s program. His service work has included participation in Remote Area Medical (RAM) clinics; Drug Take-Back events; Appalachian Miles for Smiles clinics; study abroad community health initiatives in Quito, Ecuador; environmental sustainability efforts; and projects honoring local veterans.

"This award has reinforced the importance of service no matter where I'm at in my career," said Wren. "Even as students, we can make meaningful impacts on the communities around us. I'm excited to continue working in these settings and building on these experiences by applying the clinical skills and knowledge I'll acquire while being a student at Gatton. I look forward to using that training to better serve others, improve access to care, and promote positive health outcomes in our region."

We’re proud to see Noah recognized for his compassion, leadership, and dedication to improving health outcomes in underserved communities across Appalachia and beyond.
