Thrown to the Wolves is a high school business and innovation competition inspired by Shark Tank, giving students in grades 10–12 the opportunity to turn their ideas into business concepts and pitch them to a panel of judges.

Thrown to the Wolves gives students the opportunity to turn innovative ideas into business concepts, work with mentors, and pitch their ideas to a panel of judges at Arkansas State University.

Tamika is an accomplished economic development professional with a passion for transforming communities and helping people thrive. With more than 20 years of experience in economic development, she has helped create numerous new jobs, led impactful workforce development initiatives, and earned the prestigious Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) designation.

Her impressive career has included leadership roles with Mississippi County Economic Development, the Hinds County Economic Development Authority, The Bean Path, and the South Mississippi County Intermodal Authority.

We are excited to have Tamika serving as our Community and Economic Development Specialist at Arkansas State University’s Delta Center for Economic Development.

The Delta Center was honored to welcome the granddaughters of Congressman E.C. “Took” Gathings (AR-01, 1939-1969) and Brian Richardson with the City of Jonesboro for a thoughtful discussion on preserving our region’s rich history and inspiring the next generation to understand the people, events, and ideas that shaped Northeast Arkansas.

By connecting historical legacy with future opportunity, we can ensure that the stories of our communities continue to educate, inspire, and inform those who will lead our region forward.
