Department of History at Arkansas State

Department of History at Arkansas State History is a set of evolving rules and tools that allow us to interpret the past with clarity, rigor, and an appreciation for interpretative debate.

It requires evidence, sophisticated use of information, and a deliberative stance to explain change and continuity over time. As a profoundly public pursuit, history is essential to active and empathetic citizenship and requires effective communication to make the past accessible to multiple audiences. As a discipline, history entails a set of professional ethics and standards that demand peer rev

We are proud to see Wesley P Jackson, Assistant Professor of History and Director of the BSE Social Science Program at Arkansas State University, featured in a recent Arkansas Advocate story on helping students understand the events of September 11 through oral histories and firsthand accounts. Through innovative teaching and public history engagement, Dr. Jackson is encouraging students to connect with the human experiences behind one of the most significant events in modern American history.

Stories and personal memories help bring history to life, reminding students that the past is not simply something to be studied, but something that continues to shape our world today. Congratulations to Dr. Jackson for this important work and well-deserved recognition!

๐Ÿ’‚โ€โ™€๏ธA 'hallo' from Dr. Jason Post who presented this week at the Royal Geographical Society in London, England.

Dr. Post presented his research on safety in geography and described a new paradigm of geographic thought focused on incorporating safety throughout the research process.

Awesome achievement for Post, as the Royal Geographical Society is one of the leading centers for geographical and scientific research. ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ
