Episode one of Stories from the Storm sheds light on survivors’ deeply personal accounts 15 years after living through one of the deadliest tornadoes of the 21st century—the 2011 Joplin Tornado. From taking shelter as their homes were torn to pieces around them to searching through rubble for the remains of their lives before the tragedy, these stories reveal the most accurate, devastating picture of the Joplin tornado yet.

Meet Trenton, Business Administration (Finance & Management) graduate.

"I calculate revenues and monitor costs for the land development branch of the company. I provide analysis on ongoing projects. I also reconcile the balance sheet of multiple companies.

MSSU provided the groundwork for me to get started in my career. What I learned in my classes at MSSU gave me a good foundation to apply to my current role. I also felt prepared to network, apply, and interview because of the opportunities I had during college."

This summer, Missouri Southern students traveled to West Africa for a faculty-led study abroad experience exploring storytelling, culture, and history across the region.

From castles and cocoa plantations to markets, museums, and community exchanges, students experienced firsthand how stories preserve heritage and connect communities across generations.
