Students pursuing credentials in English and Spanish serve our community in many ways. Today we'd like to recognize our students who completed internships in spring of 2026. Professional and Technical Writing majors Chase Shirk and Julian Edwards both worked with the Langston Hughes Cultural Society, designing and writing promotional materials, establishing a house style guide, and contributing to their website. Literary Studies major Sarah Prescott curated a collection of materials in Missouri Southern Spiva Library's archives, resurfacing an effort by Jasper County residents to keep a landfill out of their backyards. Jasmine Ramirez Sanchez and Ana Lozano, who are earning the Spanish for the Professions Certificate along with Bachelors' in Social Work, both worked with community health organizations (Access Family Care and the Community Health Clinic of Southwest Missouri, respectively), translating documents and interpreting for health care providers and patients. We want to thank these students and our internship partners for contributing to the life of the community and lives of our fellow citizens!
