We're thrilled to share that Western Michigan University has been selected as one of the Battle of the Buildings winners! This award, presented by the Michigan Green Building Collaborative (MiGBC), recognizes energy use reduction within commercial, industrial and multi-family buildings throughout Michigan.

This year, Spindler Hall is being recognized as the winner in the Lodging and Multifamily category for its 10.53% reduction in weather-normalized source energy use intensity. These results were achieved by repairing a significant number of failed stream traps, window issues and adding additional sealing to the building envelope. Thanks to all our staff who helped make this energy reduction possible!

Did you know that it's National Bike to Work Week? 🚲

Road construction on Ring Road North will occur from May 18 through June 30 and will involve a road closure and traffic ...

Road construction on Ring Road North will occur from May 18 through June 30 and will involve a road closure and traffic under flag control. 🚧

A closure with no thru traffic will affect a short section of Ring Road North in front of Valley Dining Center, including the pedestrian bridge over Goldsworth Valley Pond, from May 19-25. This closure is needed for safety upgrades and bridge resealing.

Following this work, Ring Road North from Ellsworth Hall to the Valley 1 intersection will be under flag control from June 2-11 for concrete removal and replacement, supporting new sidewalk installation. Asphalt removal and replacement will take place in June on a date to be determined; each phase will take one day, with flag control remaining in place.
