Research Campus dedicated to discovering plant-based solutions to improve human health. At the Plants for Human Health Institute (PHHI), our scientists are solving the grand challenges we face in agriculture, nutrition and human health. Cooperative Extension programs that create a dynamic, collaborative presence at the N.C. Research Campus in Kannapolis. Our scientists conduct research on fruits,

vegetables and other plants that will enhance the health benefits of food crops and has the potential to increase the economic impact of North Carolina agriculture. The PHHI Extension team works hand in hand with the institute's researchers and Cooperative Extension agents statewide to create and deliver research-based educational resources and outreach campaigns. Update: This workshop is full! Please keep an eye out for future opportunities

Attention teachers! Join us in the PHHI Makerspace on Wednesday, January 28, 9-3, for a hands-on make-and-take workshop where attendees will assemble their own 3D-printed aeroponic tower garden and light system to use in the classroom or school garden program.

All materials needed to start—tower components, pump, lights, nutrients and starter plants—are included, so you’ll leave ready to bring this engaging, STEM-rich growing system back to your students.

Kathya earned a Master's of Science under the supervision of Dr. Marvin Moncada through the Department of Food, Bioprocessing and Nutrition Sciences.
