We’re thrilled to celebrate the creative work of MCC-Penn Valley English instructor Teresa Leggard, writer and director of Electric Renaissance — an exciting co-production from The Coterie Theater and The American Jazz Museum. 🎭✨

Inspired by the voices of the Harlem Renaissance, the production brings the works of literary icons like Langston Hughes and Zora Neale Hurston to life with a contemporary twist.

On May 5, 2026, the LatinX and Disability & Neurodiversity Affinity Groups, Office of Institutional Impact and Counseling came together to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and Mental Health Awareness Month with a “Mental Float Trip” for students and employees.

Guests enjoyed traditional Mexican music, Mexican cookies, and root beer floats while learning about mental health resources and selecting a Guatemalan worry doll — a symbol of sharing worries and finding peace. The event highlighted the importance of community, culture, and mental wellness throughout May.
