On this special edition of , we are introducing our NEW EM Residency Program Director, Dr. Hillman!! She absolutely loves University Health-Truman Medical Center! She completed her residency here in 2011, worked a year in the community and quickly realized how deep her love ran for academics and UH-TMC and has been back ever since 2012! She has had many many vital roles and made pivotal changes not only to the residency but with the medical school as well.
To name just a few roles, she has been clerkship director, assistant then associate program director. She is the Director of Simulation for the School of Medicine. She also created our first fellowship at our program- the medical education fellowship in which we will have 2 fellows this year!
When Dr. Hillman isn’t innovating and making big changes to the residency and med school, you can find her hanging out with family and friends! She is married to a Mr. Doctor Matt Hillman who is a pediatric dentist with his own practice- Smiles dentistry. She has 3 amazing daughters and two very cute German shepherd pups- Hazel and Leia, and 1 very large Maine c**n cat- Kiki . They all enjoy outdoor adventures together whether it be hiking, skiing or just walks as a family.
As you will soon find out, Dr. Hillman loves to work out and is passionate about fitness! She is crazy about lifting, fusion fitness (you can often catch Drs. Stubbs and Subramanian working out with her), and her peloton! She also loves Star Wars, dressing up for Halloween with her family, reading novels, going to rock concerts and concerts in general with fellow attendings, a good Henry cavil series/movies, and just enjoying life every moment that she can.
We are so excited to have you as our PD Dr. Hillman!
Here are a few fun questions we asked:
What are you most excited about with being PD? Honestly, just having the opportunity to lead the best EM program in the country- it’s such an honor and I truly feel I am right where I am supposed to be
What is one your favorite things about the residency program? Hands down, the people: our residents, faculty, and patients. I could go on all day in more detail- ask me sometime ;)
