Our next graduate spotlight is Lindsay Robison!🎉

“Hello, I am Lindsay Robison, I love having adventures with my family. Our adventures include anything from kayaking in our beautiful Northern Utah waters to picking blackberries with our elderly neighbors at sunset. Getting my Master of Social Work became my next big adventure. I didn’t want to just check my master’s degree off a list I wanted to learn from the best and have a genuine educational experience. That is how I chose Utah State University and it has been a more rewarding experience than I could have ever imagined.

I love USU’s definition of success and the enthusiasm I feel to push myself to another level of being human. USU is unique in that it defines success as excellence in all aspects of your life, not just academia. I also love that USU includes appreciating yourself and others. Classmates and professors encourage everyone to reach excellence, rather than compete against each other for success. My mantra prior to school has been “Dare to be great and help others to do the same.” My college experience has been just that because I have been supported by my family, classmates, professors, and scholarship donors throughout this experience and I can say it has been a truly enriching adventure. Go Aggies!!”

Leading up to Commencement, we will be spotlighting some of our graduates! Bonni Jones will be earning her PhD in Instructional Technology & Learning Sciences. Here is her Aggie Experience:

“I have always loved investigating and trying to figure out better ways to help students learn. I explored flipped learning, but my school wasn’t ready for 1 to 1 computer use. I worked with online students and experienced the pros and cons of learning fully online. I beta tested the 3D Gamelab developed by Boise State University and experienced it from the students perspective during my master’s program and saw the benefits of autonomy in directing my learning and choosing how to show mastery.

I became curious about math anxiety and was highly concerned with the high levels of anxiety present in high school students. I chose to leave teaching and embark on a Ph.D so that I could gain research and writing skills to unlock the elements associated with educational anxiety and tell credible evidence-backed stories. My doctoral experience gave me what I needed to embark on my next journey. I am developing unique dynamic hands-on game-based curriculum with manipulatives and doing the research to determine its effectiveness.”

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our beloved colleague and friend, Dr. Brian Droubay. Brian was not only a devoted professor and therapist, but a true example of compassion, service, and kindness. His ability to listen, support, and uplift others changed lives in ways that will last forever. Our hearts are with his wife Heather, their children, and all who loved him. Brian’s legacy will live on in the countless students, clients, and colleagues he inspired. 💙
