More than 7,000 miles from campus, SWAU students traveled to Palau with a mission to serve.

Over two weeks, students helped renovate a dormitory at Palau Mission Academy, assisted local churches, shared through music ministry, and built lasting friendships with the community.

What began as a trip to serve others became an experience that transformed the students themselves.

Because sometimes the greatest impact isn't just the work you accomplish, it's the people you meet, the faith you witness, and the lives that are changed along the way.

What does it mean to discover your calling?

Southwestern Adventist University has been awarded a $100,000 NetVUE Program Development Grant to help students connect faith, learning, purpose, and service throughout their academic journey.

The new initiative, Purpose through Practice, will create opportunities for students to explore vocation through coursework, mentoring, advising, creative expression, and campus-wide experiences designed to help them discover how their gifts can make a meaningful impact in the world.

Because education isn't only about what students will do, it's also about who they are becoming.

A university’s impact is measured not only by its students, but by the lives its alumni continue to shape long after graduation.

Homecoming 2026 welcomed more than 600 alumni back to Southwestern Adventist University to celebrate the value of community, connection, and the relationships that continue to span generations.

A special highlight of the weekend was recognizing alumni and supporters whose leadership, service, and dedication continue to make a difference. Congratulations to Alumni of the Year Emmanuel Castilla (’08) and Susy Morales (’06), Young Alumnus of the Year Michael Gibson (’16), Volunteer of the Year Shari Harriss (’81), and Alumni Hall of Fame inductee Renee Sensabaugh (’81).

From mentoring students and supporting university initiatives to serving their communities and professions, Southwestern alumni continue to demonstrate the enduring impact of lives rooted in Knowledge, Faith, and Service.

We are grateful for the many individuals who continue to strengthen and shape the Southwestern story.
