Meet Ali Baretta ’26 🎓

A Multimedia Journalism and English Literature major from Southington, CT, Ali made the decision to switch into journalism at the end of her sophomore year, and it quickly became the best decision she’s made. Driven by her passion for writing, she’s built a strong foundation in media writing while exploring the many ways storytelling can take shape.

From developing video storytelling skills in backpack journalism with Dr. Nye to gaining hands-on experience as a writing intern with Marketing and Communications, Ali has expanded her skillset far beyond the page, learning everything from interviewing techniques to multimedia storytelling and journalism ethics.

After graduation, she hopes to pursue a career in media writing, ideally continuing work similar to what she’s doing now and creating content that informs and connects with audiences.

Her biggest takeaway? Growth happens outside your comfort zone, and that’s exactly where she found her success!

Ali describes her college experience in one word: eye-opening ✨

Meet Charlotte King '26 🎓

Charlotte is a Multimedia Journalism and Social Media major from Rochester, NH. A fifth-year senior graduating in May, Charlotte is the webmaster for The Equinox.

Charlotte is very involved on campus, participating in Film Society and Feminist Collective as well as The Equinox.

Charlotte's advice to students: "One of the best things about studying journalism is that you are developing skills that help you learn about anything and everything else in the world. Take advantage of the resources around you to make sure those skills are as sharp as possible. Sign up for a class or join a club outside of your comfort zone. Find a reason to get familiar with the studio spaces in the Media Arts Center. Write for The Equinox (meets Mondays at 9 p.m. in Room 309 of the L.P. Young Student Center)!"

We can't wait to see what you do next, Charlotte!

Happy Local News Day from KSC Journalism!
Local News Day is a national day of action meant to reconnect communities with trusted local news and highlight how local outlets keep people informed!

For students, Local News Day matters because local news helps us understand what is happening in the places we live, study, and work. For example, The Equinox covers schools, housing, safety, local government, and events—issues that matter to everyone on and off campus. Student journalists are helping expand local coverage and connecting younger audiences to the community of Keene.
