Bastyr Integrated Human Biology Program

Bastyr Integrated Human Biology Program This new program gives students the scientific groundwork to excel as future medical students at naturopathic or allopathic (MD) schools.

Integrated Human Biology is a two year completion program in biology that is an ideal program to allow community college graduates to complete a bachelor’s degree. This program is designed for students interested in careers in healthcare or biomedical research. It provides excellent preparation for medical school and other allied health programs (nursing, physician’s assistant or physical therapy)

, as well as graduate programs in areas of biology focused on human health. It is also possible to get a job in a research related area directly with this degree. The integrated curriculum is innovative and allows students to learn and apply critical concepts from anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, cell biology and molecular biology through a course sequence in human biology. This program is constructed to not only emphasize the scientific process, but to also understand concepts and organize information in useful ways rather than memorizing facts. This focus is appropriate given the phenomenal rate of increase in scientific information. Fortunately, technology has advanced to allow immediate access to a lot of information, but one needs the tools to process and critically examine the information. This program offers excellence in teaching and mentoring. Class size will be small to allow more individualized teaching. Students will work closely with faculty advisors who will not just help students succeed in the program but will help them prepare for graduate or professional school and careers.
