For more than 50 years, the famous Afro-Ecuadorian historian, educator, and community activist, Juan García Salazar traveled throughout the North and Central Coasts of Ecuador collecting black oral history and folk culture. He shared his research through publications and school curricula that empowered local communities in their struggle for human rights. We are going to be retracing García's steps and documenting new histories from communities in the same region. Join us in Ecuador in July 2021 to earn a Certificate in Diversity and Community Engagement or up to 10 credits towards Latin American Studies minor. You will learn about how to facilitate grassroots community cultural work while learning documentary film-making. Click our profile link above for more details!
