If you are an LESB Certified Instructor or recently attended Instructor Development and are looking to expand your certifications, Gateway Technical College is hosting an upcoming Scenario Instructor Course. The course will be held November 2-3, 2026.

This course gives existing LESB certified law enforcement, jail or secure juvenile detention instructors the training they need to request certification to be a Scenario Instructor. This course is taught by a Scenario Master Instructor Trainer and covers scenario training, testing, and force-on-force safety and training techniques.
Running effective and safe training exercises is one of the most important skills for a law enforcement instructor to possess.

Instructors will walk away with an understanding of what it takes to design, setup, and run effective and safe police training.

Recruits in Class #52 got plenty of hands-on training with the First Aid and CPR block of the law enforcement academy. We appreciate the collaboration with the Gateway Technical College Fire and EMS Program and the Gateway Technical College School of Health and their instructors who cross over to teach this unit.

Are you interested in helping those experiencing a crisis? Many law enforcement officers have training as part of a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT), but what about hose not in law enforcement? Crisis Intervention Partners (CIP) is a program open to community members such as dispatchers, fire, EMS, security, hospital staff, college staff, probation officers and anyone whose responsibilities could include dealing with someone in crisis.

The mission of the Crisis Intervention Partners program is to use understanding and skills gained through specific training to identify and provide the most effective and compassionate response possible to situations involving people experiencing a mental health crisis.

NAMI Kenosha County is organizing a CIP course on September 24th to 25th, 2026 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. There is no charge to attend this important course. If you are interested, register here:

Upcoming CCW Workshops *** August 1st and October 3rd*** Workshops are held 7:30a-2:00p.

Obtain training for your Concealed Carry Weapon license through Gateway Technical College’s comprehensive Concealed Carry Workshop. Our training emphasizes safety, and meets and exceeds Wisconsin’s concealed carry law requirements.

Training is conducted by Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ)-certified instructors who are active and former law enforcement officers. Gateway's Instructors will provide quality, hands-on training to attendees. We know that carrying a weapon is a great responsibility. This workshop is six hours, which exceeds the DOJ’s recommended number of hours to receive a concealed carry license. Attendees will have time to familiarize themselves with handguns and will be able to participate in live familiarization. This includes the ability to practice shooting with a semi-automatic firearm on our state of the art indoor range.

Carrying a handgun may not be for everyone. Those who complete the workshop and get their license are allowed by Wisconsin law to carry an electric weapon.

The workshop will cover topics to include but not limited to fi****ms safety, legalities related to concealed carry, proper carry methods and obtaining your CCW license. In addition to meeting the license requirements, with the Gateway Technical College workshop, attendees will leave confident in their knowledge and abilities.
