Hey, Fashion students! 👋 Have you heard about Kent State's partnership with the International Fashion Academy (IFA) in Paris? 🇫🇷 Imagine spending a semester or a month in the summer in one of the fashion capitals of the world, rubbing shoulders with experts in different fields by day and soaking up the distinctively French atmosphere by night.

IFA Paris offers a comprehensive academic and cultural program for Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising majors, giving students the opportunity to participate in numerous activities introducing Parisian life and culture.

"My time at UAL completely changed the way I approach fashion design" shared Fashion Design major Anna Maria who spent this summer studying at the Central Saint Martins campus of University of the Arts London (UAL). Ranked second in the world for Art & Design, this summer study away program for Fashion students offers an incredible opportunity to learn from experts while also experiencing all the fun things that London has to offer. 🇬🇧

"We were encouraged to start with art, research and concept rather than immediately thinking about making clothing. That allowed us to really develop our ideas before figuring out how to translate them into a garment. For my final look, I used only reused and repurposed zero waste muslin and fabric scraps from Central Saint Martins. The piece was completely hand sewn and was inspired by the feeling of a body hugging or holding another person from the side. Being able to present the final look in our runway show at Central Saint Martins and see all of the research and ideas come together was such a rewarding way to end the program. I’m really grateful for everything I learned and the new way of thinking about design that I’m taking with me." - Anna Maria 🪡🧵

🏆 Our final award for the category for the Summer Photo Contest goes to Asiya Yasin who spent the summer studying abroad in South Korea! 🇰🇷

Asiya shared, "This photo is from the temple stay which was an amazing spiritual experience. We did 108 prostrations as well as waking up at 4am to observe the Monks do their rituals and prayers. It was so beautiful to see the community within the temple and how peaceful it was."

🏆 Our next Summer Photo Contest winner is Ava Toth for the category! 🌏

Ava spent the summer studying Spanish at the University of Almeria in southern Spain. While abroad, Ava got to attend a World Cup watch party and witness Spain win the 2026 World Cup—how cool is that?! 🇪🇸

Ava captioned this photo: "This photo was taken at the Plaza de Toros, where I watched Spain win the World Cup Final; the most iconic moment of my life."
