Printed Matter, CAED Faculty Exhibition
On display Aug. 19 - Sept. 6 in the Armstrong Gallery.

"Printed Matter," showcases the largest collection of CAED faculty-authored publications in one space, highlighting the depth of our faculty's writing, research, and creativity across various disciplines. It covers themes ranging from modern architecture in Spain, urbanization around the Great Lakes, and the impact of technology mediation on spatial design. Located in our college's most communal space, the exhibition is like a pop-up blocker for our attention, inviting viewers to become readers. "Matter" refers to both the substantive topics discussed and the tangibility of print media, encouraging exploration of the interdisciplinary discourses propelling our thriving college.

Support for this exhibition is generously provided by the College of Architecture and Environmental Design at Kent State University.

Congratulations to Steve Rugare, College of Architecture and Environmental Designโ€™s Professor, on the publication of ๐™๐™ง๐™—๐™–๐™ฃ ๐™ƒ๐™ž๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™ค๐™ง๐™ž๐™š๐™จ ๐™„๐™ฃ ๐™‹๐™ง๐™–๐™˜๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™˜๐™š: ๐™ˆ๐™ค๐™ง๐™ฅ๐™๐™ค๐™ก๐™ค๐™œ๐™ž๐™š๐™จ ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™™ ๐™ˆ๐™š๐™ข๐™ค๐™ง๐™ฎ by Cambridge Scholars Publishing!

The book co-edited by Rugare and Jeffrey Kruth brings together ideas about the material and social transformation of cities by asking, โ€œwhat is the relationship between history, memory, and the contemporary city?โ€ The urgency of this question grows in the contexts of rapid urbanization in the Global South and urban decline in the deindustrializing areas of the Global North. Within these spaces, multiple disciplines shape our capacity to know the contemporary city. The work presented here invites the reader to undertake critical and creative approaches regarding how these disciplines might shape this process, ultimately making it more equitable and just.
