Kent State offers special programs and services just for adult and veteran students. Taking the next step toward your educational or career goals can sometimes seem overwhelming, so the Center of Adult and Veteran Services makes it a little easier. We provide support and information to assist you in transition to college and throughout your education at Kent State University. You’ll receive person

alized, comprehensive support tailored to your needs, whether you are entering college for the first time or returning after a career in business or service in the armed forces. Services Available:
• Adult Student Orientation- This one credit hour orientation course helps adult students adjust to the academic environment and add the role of student to their other life responsibilities. This course meets the requirements for the First Year Experience Course and is valuable to all adult students new to KSU. Contact the office for more information.
• General academic advising and assistance.
• Career Guidance
• We provide an updated list of local child care providers, and an environment to help single parents or families deal with both the personal and academic issues faced in college.
• Campus involvement, such as the KSU Vets Club
• Any other additional referrals or resources students may need assistance with

🛩️ 25 Years Later: Honoring the Day Aviation Changed Forever 🇺🇸

This September marks 25 years since the September 11, 2001 attacks. For a generation of Kent State aviation alumni, that day didn't just change history. It changed the course of their lives.

Brian Hodor, '01, was a flight instructor at Kent State Airport that morning. After 9/11, he shifted his path toward military service, earning his Air Force wings, flying C-130s, and becoming a squadron commander. Today he flies as a 737 captain for United Airlines while continuing to serve in the Air Force Reserve. ✈️

His story, along with those of fellow alumni Richard "Reb" Benson, Jim Sebastian, and Dan Wolfe, reminds us how many in aviation answered the call to serve their country, and how deeply linked our Golden Flashes community is to the men and women who wear the uniform.

📅 On Sept. 10, the College of Aeronautics and Engineering will hold its 5th Annual Pilot Pinning Ceremony at the Kent State University Airport (1G3), commemorating the 25th anniversary of 9/11 while celebrating the next generation of Kent State pilots earning their wings.

To the veterans and service members who carry this legacy forward: we see you, we honor you, and we thank you. 🎖️

📣⚠️The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has identified a marketing scam targeting individuals attempting to contact VA by phone.

Fraudulent phone numbers have been established that differ from the official VA call center numbers by only one digit.

If one of these fraudulent numbers is called by mistake, the answering party may offer a gift card and attempt to obtain personal and financial information, including credit card information. In some cases, the caller may even be transferred to VA after their information has been collected.

Please verify the phone number carefully before calling VA. The fraudulent numbers to avoid are 800-872-1000 and 888-442-4511. The official VA National Call Center number is 800-827-1000, and the official VA GI Bill® Call Center number is 888-442-4551.

VA will not require you to provide credit card information in exchange for a gift card or promotional offer. If you receive a suspicious offer, hang up and verify that you are calling the correct VA number before providing any personal or financial information.

We encourage all students using VA education benefits to save the official VA numbers and carefully check the number before placing a call!

📣Big news: Kent State University has been honored with the ESGR Seven Seals Award! This one means a lot to us, since supporting the students, families, and communities connected to our military is something we care about deeply, day in and day out. We’re so proud of the work our team puts in to serve our military-connected community here at CAVS. 🇺🇸
