A beautiful day for a Kent State Football victory! 🏈💙💛🇺🇸

Thank you to everyone who joined us for today’s Military Appreciation Football Game as we came together to honor and celebrate our veterans and military community!

A special thank you to President Todd Diacon and Associate Vice President Yvonna Washington-Greer for stopping by and showing your support, and to College of Aero & Engineering for the incredible flyover! ✈️

We also want to give a special shoutout to Troy and Maribeth Eckenrode, who served as today’s honorary captains for the pregame coin toss! Troy is a United States Air Force veteran, and Maribeth serves as our Veterans Educational Benefit Specialist and School Certifying Official in the Center for Adult and Veteran Services (CAVS).

Today, we not only honor those who have served, but also the military spouses and families who stand beside them. Your unwavering support, dedication, and sacrifices are an important part of military service and deserve recognition and appreciation.

Thank you, Troy, and to all veterans, service members, military spouses, and families for your service, sacrifice, and support. We are proud to celebrate and honor you today and every day! 🇺🇸

🏛️ Welcome to KENTHACA! ⚓

This Homecoming Week, the CAVS office set sail for ancient Greece and became Ithaca, home of the legendary Odysseus! 🌊

For the Homecoming office decorating contest, every office brought this year's theme, "Every Flash Has a Story," to life. We chose The Odyssey, because it's the story of a war veteran trying to find his way home. 🛡️

After 10 years at war in Troy, Odysseus spent another 10 years sailing home. Along the way he faced storms, monsters, wrong turns, and plenty of people telling him he'd never make it. But he kept going, relying on his wit, his resilience, and the people who helped him along the way. ⛵

Our veterans, military-connected students, and adult learners know what it means to take the long road. Many of you are balancing service, family, work, and school, and coming back to the classroom after time away can feel like its own odyssey. Like Odysseus, every one of you has a story worth telling, and CAVS is here to help you navigate the journey. Your Ithaca is the finish line, and we'll help you get there. 🎓

📍 Stop by our office to see Kenthaca in person (and spot the golden coins! 🪙)

🏈 And don't miss Homecoming this weekend!
