We had an unforgettable time at the 20th Annual Barbara Donaho Awards, celebrating 25 outstanding nurse preceptors representing 14 healthcare organizations across northeast Ohio! Nominated for their exceptional mentorship and lasting impact on our students, these remarkable leaders are helping shape the future of nursing.

Guest speaker Khaliah Fisher-Grace, PhD, RN, CPHQ, PCCN-K, Director of System Policy, Quality Improvement & Operations at University Hospitals, reflected on the compassion, competence, and leadership that define exceptional preceptors and guide the next generation of nursing leaders.

Beautiful music was performed by four students from Kent State University’s Hugh A. Glauser School of Music.

Bonnie Bartos, Class of 1979, stopped by Henderson Hall and shared how one phone call with Dean Linnea Henderson changed the course of her life.

As a young mother pursuing nursing school, Bonnie found support, flexibility and encouragement at Kent State — support that helped launch a decades-long career in nursing leadership, hospital administration and healthcare technology.

Today, Bonnie continues to give back through the endowed Bartos Henderson Scholarship, helping support future nursing students facing challenges of their own. 💙💛⚡️
