Thank you to the Nursing students who collaborated with the senior OT students in a blood pressure clinic setting this week. The students were able to share this learning experience, and it was a wonderful way to create opportunities for collaboration among healthcare students. Keuka College

The OT seniors started off the year learning about the important connection between vision and occupational performance. Today, they had the opportunity to experience simulated low vision through a variety of activities while also practicing their role as OTs working with individuals with low vision. It was a great hands-on day of learning, problem-solving, and seeing things from a different perspective! Keuka College

We're back for another Fieldwork Friday!πŸŽ‰

This week we are featuring senior OT student, Dawson Miletich, who completed his first Level II fieldwork placement through Saranac Central School District at Morrisonville Elementary School, working with students in Pre-K through 5th grade.

He was supervised by alum, Christina Zielinski '97, OTR/L. Dawson noted that Christina is a wealth of knowledge and provided thoughtful feedback for him throughout his placement.

Dawson was noted to have strong observation abilities within the variety of settings a student engages in a school building, enhancing his evaluations, documentation, and treatment sessions. Christina noted that his documentation was a notable strength-- consistently timely, clear, and concise. She also noted that he demonstrated a strong commitment to learning and professional growth, regularly taking the initiative to further develop his skills and refine his clinical practice.

Dawson will graduate with his B.S. in Occupational Science in the coming days, and then begin his last year of the OT program in August, graduating with his M.S. in Occupational Therapy in May 2027. We're proud of you, Dawson! πŸ’šπŸ’›

We're back for another Fieldwork Friday!πŸŽ‰

This week we are featuring 2026 M.S. in Occupational Therapy grad, Amanda Sheehan, who completed her last Level II fieldwork placement through Rochester Regional Health in their outpatient clinic at the Ridgeway Medical Campus. She had the opportunity to treat adult patients with primarily neuro diagnoses, including stroke, TBI, Parkinson's, and MS. Amanda noted that the team at this site were wonderful, and that everyone was welcoming and great to collaborate with.

She was supervised by program alum, Diana Hauman '97, OTR/L, who guided Amanda through the fast-pace and complex caseload at this site.

Throughout her 12 weeks, Amanda was able to greatly improve her communication skills and enhance her ability to grade activities to challenge patients appropriately. Amanda also fabricated a vertically hanging peg board for the clinic, and completed an informative in-service on Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease for the team. Diana noted that Amanda is kind and compassionate, and will be an asset to any team she joins!

Congratulations to Amanda on graduating in May-- we're proud of you! πŸ’šπŸ’›
