Today is World Mental Health Day, and this year's theme is "Mental Health Is a Universal Human Right."

What better day to launch our new Mind Body Life at Santa Fe College mental health campaign? Be sure to click on the campaign page and follow along for great advice on improving your mental and physical wellbeing or checkout resources on the website, https://ow.ly/WKnv50PVbMx.

The Mind Body Life project was created with funding obtained by SF in collaboration with the CDC and the Florida Department of Health (DOH).

The Mind Body Life website is designed specifically for college students to address their unique mental health challenges in school and to remove common barriers preventing them from seeking or receiving care.

The goal of the website, social media posts, and other aspects of this broad initiative is to provide engaging and educational information that lowers the stigma around mental health by discussing the connection between mind, body, and life—and to promote access to local campus care and mental health services.

Anytime—day or night—help is just a click away. 💚

As a reminder, Santa Fe College students can reach the campus Counseling Center by emailing [email protected] or calling 352-395-5508. Student Life

August 28, 2023, 3:54 p.m. – Santa Fe College will be closed for all academic and business operations Tuesday, Aug. 29, and remain closed Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023, in advance of Tropical Storm Idalia. This includes the Northwest Campus, all Centers, the Academy for Science and Technology, the SF Teaching Zoo, the Kika Silva Pla Planetarium, and the SF Gymnasium. Only employees who have received authorization from their division VP may report to any SF location until the college announces reopening.

Because of the potential direct impact to the area, the college has made this decision to prioritize the safety of students, faculty and staff of the college, and to give them the opportunity to make any necessary final preparations for supplies and personal safety today and tomorrow as the weather allows.

The storm is expected to intensify rapidly, and for the latest information and projected track, you can monitor the storm through the National Hurricane Center(Opens in new window). Given the current forecast, the SF service district can expect strong tropical storm-force winds with the potential for hurricane-strength gusts. Heavy rains with potential flash flooding and the development of tornados are possible.

The college’s SF Alerts webpage will provide all official updated information concerning Hurricane Idalia or any other college alert issues. Get the latest news on the track of all storms through the National Hurricane Center’s webpage.

Congratulations to all Spring 2022 graduates. The graduation ceremonies this week included a surprise military family visit, an engagement, first-generation college graduates, high school dual enrollment students graduating with a two-year degree before completing high school, and so many inspiring stories of what the future holds for these SF grads.

Some graduates are choosing to continue school at Stanford, Harvard, University of Florida, UNF, USF, UCF, FAMU, and too many more to mention. While others are headed into the workforce, both locally and afar as nurses in, dental assistants, respiratory therapists, plumbers, welders, office administrators, accountants, and the list goes on.

In this year's personalized graduation experience, each graduate had their moment on stage. In addition to having their name read, each graduate had the opportunity to share their accomplishments, future career aspirations, and something personal they wished to share. All in attendance were reminded of the importance of SF's mission to serving North Central Florida and beyond, by adding value to the lives of our students and enriching our community.

Congratulations graduates! We are proud of your perseverance and honored you chose to be a part of the SF family.
