CTC students received a major boost toward their educational goals as the Central Texas College Foundation awarded 252 scholarships totaling more than $601,000 during its 34th annual scholarship event.

The impact of these scholarships, and the community support behind them, was recently featured by KWKT FOX 44.

Through generous donations and Foundation fundraising efforts, CTC continues making higher education more accessible and affordable for students across Central Texas and beyond.

From high school senior to college graduate, Christian Harrell is already building a future focused on service, leadership and education.

The Copperas Cove High School senior earned his associate degree from Central Texas College through the dual credit program and plans to enlist in the U.S. Army after graduation. Because of his degree, he will enter as an E-3 while continuing to pursue higher education during his military career.

Balancing athletics, medical certifications and college coursework wasn’t easy, but Christian says the sacrifices were worth it.

MILITARY MONDAY!

From Drill Sergeant at Fort Jackson to Combat Medical Specialist in the United States Army to shaping future officers at Central Texas College, Johnnie Thomas has built a lifetime of service through every transition.

After 20 years in uniform, Thomas carried his leadership into the classroom, where he now trains the next generation of public safety professionals through CTC’s Police Academy and Protective Services programs.

“CTC gave me the opportunity to extend my service in a different way,” he said.

His message to transitioning soldiers: Think with the end in mind.

At just 15 years old, Copperas Cove High School student Makayla Gonzalez is already making history.

The 2026 graduate from Central Texas College earned her first associate degree and plans to earn three before finishing high school, all while balancing advanced coursework, FFA activities and preparing for a future in veterinary medicine.

Through CTC’s dual credit program, Makayla challenged herself academically, developed college-level skills and gained a head start on her future at Texas A&M University.
