URI is excited to announce auditions for The New Antiquity Chamber Voice Ensemble, a new faculty-led classical voice ensemble exploring the full breadth of vocal chamber music: from early music to contemporary compositions and everything in between.

Each semester, The New Antiquity will build a unique concert project around a theme, artistic concept, or body of repertoire. Students will have the opportunity to explore intimate ensemble singing, historically informed performance, contemporary vocal music, and collaborative artistic work.

This is an opportunity for singers who are excited about challenging repertoire, adventurous programming, and making music together at a high level.

Join the University of Rhode Island Concert Choir! Concert Choir is URI's auditioned choral ensemble, and we are looking for new members in all voice parts. Come be a part of the tradition! Auditions for Concert Choir will take place Thursday, September 10 between 2 and 3:15, in the new Choral Rehearsal Room in the FIne Arts Center: G100. The audition is self-contained; you do not need to prepare anything. There will be a short form to fill out, and time slots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Dr. Luis Viquez, Director of Orchestral Studies at the University of Rhode Island visited the Performing Arts Reading Room at The Library of Congress, where he had the opportunity to explore coveted manuscripts by W. A. Mozart in the Gertrude Clarke Whittall Collection.

Dr. Viquez was joined by Nicholas Brown-Cáceres, Chief of the Music Division at the Library of Congress and María Peña, Public Affairs Specialist from Library of Congress Office of Communication.
